Adult Children of Addicts

Adult Children of Addicts

1 in 5 adult Americans (18%) lived with an alcoholic while growing up. Of the 26.8 million Children of Alcoholics in the U.S., over 11 million are under the age of 18. "Adult Children" refers to adults who grew up in a home that was dysfunctional or negatively impacted due to drugs, alcohol, or other forms of addiction. The rate at which individuals are being raised or exposed to these environments is higher than most realize. As a result of the issues brought on by exposure to addiction throughout childhood, many adult children struggle with various issues of their own that impact their daily lives.
